SAP ECTR is an integration interface from SAP for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). It enables the efficient management of consistent data in the areas of mechanics, electronics, software development and simulation.

The SAP ECTR interface to Inventor is a solution developed by Cideon exclusively for SAP SE. The interface enables seamless integration between Autodesk Inventor and SAP PLM. Designers work in Inventor and also use the SAP function menu.

The interface from SAP ECTR to Inventor offers the following advantages:

  • Accelerated processes: The solution enables standardized product development at a competitive level.
  • Higher product quality: Centralized data management ensures a consistent data structure.

The SAP ECTR interface to Inventor is based on SAP ECTR. Thanks to the integrated SAP ECTR function menu, designers work with Inventor as usual. With the integration between SAP ECTR and Inventor, you can seamlessly manage assemblies, parts and drawings, including their dependent documents, as structures in SAP PLM. The simple SAP material assignment to Inventor assembly structures and the automatic derivation of multi-level SAP material BOMs always guarantee uniform data structures for everyone involved in development.

Cideon offers various introductory packages, including Cideon SAP ECTR 3D Ready2Run and Cideon SAP ECTR 3D Proof of Practice. With the first package, a standard configuration is carried out in SAP, followed by key user training, support during the test phase and finally support during the go-live, including hypercare. With the second implementation package, a test environment is installed first. This is followed by key user training and the implementation of import workshops. This is followed by the implementation phase including process optimization. Finally, Cideon offers go-live support including hypercare.

The SAP S/4HANA ERP system is provided in three different options: 

  • SAP S/4HANA On-Premise: Here, the ERP system is installed on a local server or on an in-house or off-site data center for the maintenance and provision of data and applications. Processes are often adapted flexibly and on a customer-specific basis. The (internal) IT infrastructure must be open for system adaptations. On the other hand, operating your own local servers and data centers is costly. This also applies to the high IT security standards that need to be met. As an SAP customer, you are responsible for keeping releases up to date. 

  • SAP S/HANA Private Cloud: Applications and services run in their own environment, which offers typical cloud advantages, such as maintenance-free IT tools. The private cloud enables more individual customization than the public cloud and often contains the latest SAP developments that are exclusively available for the cloud, e.g. AI solutions. In addition, customizations and various projects are possible at any time. A full managed service is also offered by SAP when choosing the SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud.

  • SAP S/HANA Public Cloud: As a customer, you share the hardware and network infrastructure. Users can use cloud-typical added value via a web browser. Data sovereignty remains with you and the data cannot be viewed by other customers. If you opt for the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, SAP offers a complete managed service. As a customer, you also have to participate in regular update cycles. The solution is particularly suitable for standardized process landscapes. Customization options are available within existing standards via the Business Technology Platform (BTP).
